Behind every missing pet is someone still hoping to hear a familiar sound at the door. In Ho Chi Minh City, a police operation offered that hope to families whose cats had disappeared.

Al Jazeera reported that more than 400 cats were recovered in an investigation into an alleged theft ring supplying the meat trade. The Associated Press reported at least 40 reunions with owners, alongside deaths among animals weakened by the conditions in which they were found. Veterinarians and volunteers helped care for survivors at a temporary rescue centre.

For Animals First Aid, the reunions are a reason to celebrate—and the losses a reason to keep paying attention. Recovery requires more than an open cage. It takes somewhere safe to rest, veterinary attention and people willing to stay involved after the first rush of relief.

AFA’s support for rescued animals begins with that same commitment to continuing care. Explore our animal welfare causes and help a trusted local caregiver meet the needs that remain after a rescue.

Share verified information about missing animals. Support responsible rescue. And remember the families still searching: every cat deserves to be recognised as a life, never a commodity.
