In Agadir, Morocco, the team at You Can Save Me Shelter wakes each day knowing another desperate call may come. A cat hit by a car. A dog cut open by a person. Three cats struggling with coryza. An animal so badly hurt that amputation is the only way to end her pain.

Animals First Aid, in partnership with You Can Save Me Shelter, is asking you to stand with Fatim and her team again—because the suffering has not slowed down, and neither have they.

One cat was attacked with a sharp object. The wound in her chest was so deep that her lung could be seen moving as she breathed. Her ribs were fractured, her right lung had collapsed, her head was torn and she nearly lost an ear. Her temperature had fallen to 32°C. The veterinarian operated despite the terrible odds. Miraculously, she woke up and began to move. Her surgery and veterinary care alone came to 700 dirhams, and her treatment must continue.

Another kitten was struck by a car and suffered damage so severe that one of her hind limbs had to be amputated. She is now healing and learning to move through a completely changed life. Another rescued cat survived a fractured jaw and surgery; photographs taken three months later show what patient care can achieve.

But not every story has a happy ending. YCSM rushed one cat, found after being hit by a car and left to die, to the hospital. He did not survive. He mattered, and he did not die alone.

The emergencies keep coming: a female cat attacked by dogs and still receiving treatment at the shelter; three cats fighting coryza; a dog with a fractured back leg who may still need an amputation; and another terribly injured cat whose eyes were beyond saving. Rosa, in the Kours neighborhood of Safi, has suffered for years with a severe uterine condition and painful, infected legs. She too needs compassionate veterinary care.

Then there is the dog attacked by a person. A deep wound across his back left him unable to walk properly. His wound was stitched twice, but every movement pulled the stitches open again. YCSM provided daily treatment until he finally began to improve. His latest update reminds us that recovery is not one dramatic rescue—it is dressing wounds, giving medicine and refusing to give up, day after day.

This is what Fatim and the YCSM team face in Agadir: one emergency after another, while food, medication, surgery, hospitalization and follow-up care continue to drain their limited resources.
