Open the gate to life—today
They named her Hayat, which means “life.” She was a street-small pup with wire marks on her neck and a limp that turned every step into a plea. When Sally lifted her from the dust of Tangier’s alleys, Hayat didn’t resist. She pressed her face into the crook of an arm and finally slept. A bath. Warm food. Pain relief. Quiet. By morning, she could wag. That tiny wag is what your kindness creates in this city: life where there was none.

Animals First Aid is partnering with Sally’s Sanctuary in Tangier to keep that promise. What began as one woman rescuing the unseen has become a true sanctuary, a no-kill refuge where the unwanted are never abandoned again. Dogs on wheels, animals missing limbs, cats with chronic conditions. Each one is treated, vaccinated, sterilized, and given time to heal. If adoption never comes, they stay. Safety here is not a wish. It is a lifetime guarantee.

Beyond the gate, the crisis is staggering. An estimated 30,000 dogs roam Tangier’s streets, with millions more across Morocco. Sally and her small team walk the markets and back roads with first-aid kits and food, answering calls no one else will. They teach children that compassion is strength. They counsel families who love their animals but cannot afford care. They do this work without grants or a safety net, only courage, community, and you.

Rescue alone is not enough, so they launched Project Hayat: Treat, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Tag. Every sterilization prevents litters from being born into hunger. Every tag says this animal is known, protected, and valued. This is how a city changes, one safe animal, one kind lesson, one saved life at a time.

Tonight the pantry is thinning and the pharmacy shelf is nearly bare. Vet invoices are due. Puppies and kittens need urgent vaccinations. The next round of sterilizations cannot slip. If we delay, suffering multiplies. The sanctuary is still fighting for basics like reliable water and electricity, yet they keep the lights of mercy on with whatever they have. We promised Hayat, and every animal after her, that once they cross our gate they will not go back to the streets. Help us keep that promise.

Your gift reaches a living, breathing soul the moment it lands. $20 helps fill bowls for a day. $45 vaccinates and treats parasites so a puppy sleeps without pain. $85 funds a sterilization that stops suffering before it starts. $120 covers a month of full care for a recovering dog like Hayat. $300 places a deposit for emergency surgery when minutes matter. Whatever you give becomes food, medicine, warmth, and time, the ingredients of hope.

Please give now to Animals First Aid, in partnership with Sally’s Sanctuary in Tangier. Help us feed the hungry, heal the injured, and expand Project Hayat so fewer animals are born to suffer. Open the gate to life today. Hayat is wagging again because someone cared. Let the next wag be because of you.
