Shiloh could not stand. Emaciated, dehydrated and suffering from distemper, she had been left to die on a farm. Neurological damage had robbed her of the ability to walk.

At Bubu’s Animal Haven, Reni gave her months of medication, nourishing food and patient daily exercises. After four long months, Shiloh took her first steps again.

We’re welcoming Bubu’s Animal Haven in Namibia as our newest partner, extending our support to animals who have endured abandonment, neglect and illness. With you beside us, AFA’s growing reach can mean treatment for another sick animal, another full bowl and a safe place to call home.

Founded by Verena “Reni” van der Merwe, Bubu’s offers vulnerable animals a lifelong haven. But keeping that promise takes more than compassion. Right now, the sanctuary urgently needs help with veterinary care and food.

Five cats are undergoing costly treatment for FIP. Other animals also need veterinary care, while around 120 cats, along with dogs, rabbits, farm animals and birds, depend on the sanctuary for their meals every day.

Bubu’s estimates its veterinary costs alone at N$15,000 (£687 / €801 / US$929) a month, with emergencies and hospital stays pushing that figure higher. The need continues even when donations fall short.
