Countless cats live hidden lives behind warehouses, factories, and business parks in South Africa. They survive on scraps, breed endlessly, and when they are injured or sick… no one claims them.

But one woman refuses to look away.  
Animals First Aid is deeply committed to helping her.  
But we need your support.

Her name is Nina Wilson.  She is the founder of Lanseria Ferals in South Africa. With patience, compassion, and relentless determination, Nina traps feral cats, sterilizes them, treats them for disease, and returns them safely to their colonies. Together with AFA, her work is making a real difference. In 2025 alone, her determined work prevented hundreds of kittens from being born into suffering.

Recently, Nina stepped in to help a colony at Lanseria Business Park after companies that had once fed the cats suddenly abandoned them. She set up feeding stations, began trapping the cats one by one, and has already sterilized many to stop the cycle of uncontrolled breeding. She even crawled beneath a diesel container to rescue terrified kittens trapped underneath! In nearby communities, she also sterilizes cats for families who simply cannot afford veterinary care.

Today, Nina cares for more than 200 feral cats across several fragile colonies. Every cat needs food, medical care, parasite treatment, and sterilization. Each cat costs roughly R1000 (about $60… £45… €52) for testing, sterilization, vaccination, and treatment.

As winter approaches (winter in South Africa arrives in June), food needs increase - and the costs of care continue to rise. Right now, AFA needs to raise R10,000 (about $600… £450… €520) to help Nina hopes to keep her lifesaving work going.
